Time Management: Geofencing & Scheduling in SAP SuccessFactors | 2H 2025 Release Highlights

See what’s new in SAP SuccessFactors Time Management with geofencing, self-service audits, FMLA automation, and workforce scheduling.

In this 2H 2025 release highlight, Frans Smolders introduces new innovations in SAP SuccessFactors Time Management that help organizations improve compliance, reduce administrative effort, and give employees and managers smarter tools to manage time, absences, and schedules.

The video starts with geofencing for time recording. Employees can clock in and out only when they are within a defined work location, using the mobile app to see proximity to the nearest site. This supports location-based policies, improves transparency, and helps prevent misuse of time recording outside authorized areas – especially relevant for industries with distributed or site-based workforces.

Next, Frans highlights a self-service Time Sheet Change Audit report. Directly from the time sheet UI, employees can generate an audit document that shows all time sheet updates, who made them, and when. This added visibility supports payroll accuracy and strengthens audit readiness.

The release also brings enhancements to absence management, including streamlined connectivity with FMLA service providers for customers in the United States. Automated leave deductions help simplify compliance and reduce manual work for HR and time admins. Building on this, new capabilities for automated payouts allow remaining balances across multiple pay components to be paid out at the end of a period without manual intervention – improving efficiency and payroll accuracy.

The video closes with a preview of Workforce Scheduling for manufacturing and other production industries. Shift scheduling supports demand-driven workforce planning and generates weekly or monthly shift plans that consider operational needs and employee skills. This helps organizations align labor with demand, reduce downtime, and improve productivity as part of a connected workforce management approach with SAP SuccessFactors solutions.

The new home page introduces a refreshed page layout that reduces clicks and scrolling while making next steps crystal clear. A Quick Action bar at the top gives instant access to essential actions, so employees and managers can jump straight into common tasks. A new Greeting section brings together a personalized message, quick links, and featured cards that surface upcoming milestones and relevant items.

Key items that require user attention are organized into “Needs Attention” and “Organizational Updates” sections, helping people focus on what’s most important right now. The “Explore More” area adds data visualization cards that provide at-a-glance insights into role-specific KPIs and metrics, giving leaders and HR teams a more data-driven starting point for their day. Custom banners with engaging visuals keep everyone informed and connected to key company messages, while pre-built WalkMe content offers visual guidance so users can quickly find and adopt new features.

On mobile, the native apps have also been enhanced for efficiency. Users are greeted with their company’s branding, and a redesigned header offers quick access to Joule, notifications, and profile and settings. A new “Needs Attention” carousel highlights the top three priorities by due date, and a reimagined “To Do” screen separates approvals and other tasks with filters so users can focus on what matters most in the moment.

The updated home page is designed for a seamless transition, with minimal disruption for administrators and a guided adoption experience for end users. There’s no need to migrate data or perform upgrade tasks—organizations can simply benefit from a more efficient layout, smarter navigation, and enhanced features that support a better day-to-day experience with SAP SuccessFactors.
