Paying as you go for something is nothing new — just look at car sharing. But there’s surprisingly little uptake for outcome-based business when using expensive machines such as manufacturing robots, according to KUKA, a German robotics supplier.

“They always ask for it, but there are very few companies who actually perform outcome-based business,” KUKA’s Christian Liedtke told SAP TV. “So, we set up a trial version in our own robot manufacturing.”

“Everybody wants to have a [better] look at their processes,” KAISER Group Chief Digital Officer Andreas Vehreschild said on Winning Insights. “We use SAP Signavio for identifying all of our processes — we use it like a flashlight.”

Having all the facts and figures at their fingertips enables KAISER leaders make fact-based decisions, according to Vehreschild. Full visibility into all of its processes will also help KAISER prepare for a smooth migration to SAP S/4HANA.
